Painganga River: The River That Shaped Our Childhood

Growing up in Mehkar, the Painganga River was much more than a river for us. It was our playground, our swimming pool, and the place where some of our best childhood memories were created.

Before the Pentakli Dam was completed around 2003, the Painganga River flowed with plenty of water throughout the 12 months. During heavy rains, the river would swell so much that water often overflowed the bridge. For us children, it was an exciting sight.

During my childhood, I had many groups of friends. Some were older than me, and some were younger. I had friends for cricket, swimming, lane games (like Vitti Dandu, Kacchi Gotya, Chor Police, and Tag,) school and tuition friends, study friends, and even a group of naughty friends who would stand up to people who tried to bully or dominate us.

Every group was special in its own way, and I was happy to be part of all of them. Each group gave me different experiences.

My friends and I were passionate swimmers. We often skipped school and rushed to the river or riverside full overflow well to spend hours in the water without intimating at home :) .

Jumping from the British constructed bridge into the river gave us a thrill that is hard to describe. We played countless games in the water, including tag means control your breathe under water and sim farway from one who caught and ball games.

One of our favourite game was throwing a ball into the water. The person who caught it had to find and tag the player who threw it. Simple games, but they gave us endless joy.

But the other part came when I returned home. we all lived as joint family My parents(specially my auntie) immediately knew that I had skipped school and gone swimming in the river. They would just look at me and smile. I always wondered how they could tell so quickly.

Later, I realized why. My hair would still be wet, and all the hair oil would be washed away.  my skin would become pale and dry after spending hours in the water. No matter how hard I tried to hide it, the Painganga River always gave away my secret. Parents somehow know everything, even when we think we have fooled them! ๐Ÿ˜Š

None of my friends and I were experts in swimming, but we were adventurous. We practiced together, taught each other, teased each other ;)๐Ÿ˜€ , and learned how to swim. I think it was one of the best experiences of my life.

When I saw some of my friends fearlessly jump from the bridge into the water, I was amazed. After a few days (no no in years ๐Ÿ˜•), I also tried it. I felt very happy and excited after that. From 1990 to 2000, I enjoyed my life a lot and made many wonderful memories.

The river water was crystal clear in winter days for some areas that we exlplorerd. On bright sunny days, the blue sky reflected on the water, making it look even more beautiful. Those moments are still fresh in my memory.

Over time, things changed. After the construction of the dam, much of the river water was diverted. Gradually, the Painganga River near Mehkar lost its strength and beauty. Today, only a small amount of water flows through the river except monsoon season. The lively river of our childhood has almost vanished.

Among all my memories of the river, one incident remains unforgettable.

One day, around nine or ten of us were swimming together all are my neighbour(Sagar, Kailash, Sam, Pintu, Amol, Manoj, Atul). As usual, we decided to swim from one side of the river to the other.

After swimming for some time, I became tired and stopped to catch my breath. I tried to place my feet on the riverbed to rest, but I unknowingly reached a deep hole in the river.Digging out sand deepens and widens the river channel, which ruins the natural flow of water and overnight unknown holes to river are threat to swimmers.

Suddenly, I lost support and began sinking. Panic took over. I struggled to breathe, and water started entering through my nose and mouth. For a few terrifying moments, I felt completely helpless. I honestly thought it might be my last day.

Fortunately, one of my friends noticed that something was wrong. He was standing nearby and immediately came to help. Without wasting a second, he grabbed me and pulled me to safety.

That friend saved my life that day.

Even now, whenever I visit my hometown, I make it a point to meet him. Every time I thank him in mind, I am reminded of how precious friendship and life truly are.

The river may have changed beause of dam, but the memories, friendships, and lessons it gave us will stay with me forever. ❤️

In Love, Pain Is A Blessing

Love is a painful, but the pain is certainly a blessing. Love is painful
because love brings growth.Love demands , transforms and is a
painful because love gives you a new birth.

Love brings you hearth into relatioship and when the hearth is in relationship -
and when the heart is in relationship there is always pain. If you avoid the pain
you will miss all pleasure of life. with love you will become human; you stand erect
on earth.with love you are vertical.

With love are problems. But with problems is growth-the greater the problem
the greater the opportunity.More and more pain, too.

That's why many people never love-it is so painful. They never become vertical
they like to be a normal ;).

Love never shatters you completely. It simply shatters you a little, a little bit.
It shatters a crust of your ego,but the center of the ego remains intact. Then
there is a deeper pain , deeper than love, and that is of prayer-it shatters you
utterly. It is death. When you have learnt how to love, and you have learnt that
that the pain that love brings is a blessing in disguise,it is beatiful , then you become
able and you take another step(note: here task is not yet completed :) ) -that step
is prayer(sachhe mann sein.....).

All lovers feel a little miserable. They would like to disappear completely, but it is not
possible in human relationship. Human relationship is a limited. But one learns from it
that there is a possibility:if it can happen so much in a human relationship, how much more
can happen in a relationship with the Divine?

Love makes you ready to take the final jump, the quantum leap. That's what I call prayer
,or you can call it meditation .You have to disappear for existence to be.
Love is a training ground , a school to learn first lessons - of the beauty , of the blessings
and benediction of disappearance; to learn that pain is blessed.

So when you are in love , or when love arises, cooperate with it, don't try resisting.
People come to compromise. The basic problem that i have been looking at is that
lovers by and by come to a compromise.
The compromise is: You don't heart me , i will not heart you. That what marriage is.Then
people become settled(life mein settle hone ko mangata hai!!!!) . They become so afraid
of pain that they say "Don't heart me and i will not heart you" but then when pain disappers, love also disappears. They exists together.
When you are in love ,love hearts . it hearts terribly.
But never resist, never create any barriers for pain . allow it and by and by you will see that
it was a wrong interpretation. It is not a really pain.It is just that something is going so deep in you that you interpret it like a pain.you dont know anything else. You are only aware of pain in your past life,in your past experience, whenever something penetrate deep , you interpret it as a
pain.

Don't use a word pain .when love and love's arraow goes deep into your heart, close your eyes and don't use words -just see what it is , and you will never see it is a pain .you will see it is a
benediction .You will be tremendously moved by it .You will feel joyous.

Don't use words. When something new happens to you, always allow a deep look into
it without any language.

LOVE IS IN THE AIR

It there is anything in this universe that cannot be defined, it is love,
If you can describe love, then it is far from the truth. You give flowers,
you hug, you prostrate, you offer but still something remains unexpressed.

Once Rama asked Hanuman: “Tell me how much you love me?”
Hanuman said, “My Lord, I cannot expressed my love for you, you want
to see? I will tear open my heart and show you”.
Even your whole life you try to express how deep your love is, you
cannot express it fully. You can only find a little expression, just a glimpse of it.

There are three types of love satvik, rajsik, and tamsik. Satvik
love is that which does not expect anything in return. Rajsik
love is love combined with feverishness and desire to get something back.
Tamsik love is just to destroy things. But divine love is free from all these three.
Wordly love can be alike an ocean, yet even an ocean has a bottom.
Divine love is like the sky which is limitless (means top of the heart)
infinite. From the bottom of the ocean, soar into the vast sky.

when you love somebody, what do you love in them? Do you love their qualities
(Kahi pein nigahen kahi pein nishana), attributes (Smile, Voice) or the
person (looking damn sexy)? Often love diminishes. A child love its mother
as the child gets older, the love for mother recedes as the focus is now on friends, (girl friend ;))
then spouse and then children. Divine love, however, grows every moment…
You can never be bored being with a wise person, a saint. Every day
you spend, you feel the depth is getting even more. Every moment you
spend with a saint you feel the relationship is growing deeper and deeper.
This kind of love never breaks down; it never diminishes.
Divine love is so refined and so subtle, it cannot be expressed;
it can only be experienced.

Mysteries cannot be understood; they cannot be explained,
but can be lived. ‘Sukshmataram Anubhavarupam’, it’s a form of experience.
You can live it, you can be it, you can shed tears of gratitude, but you cannot
express it. You cannot fully share it with anyone.

This love is so unconditional; it does not depend on the behavior of
the other person. It does not depend on the attributes of the other
person. Does not depend upon what they do to you and what they don’t
do to you. You are in love because you can’t be but in love. You have no
choice as it is your very nature. Like the sun has no other choice than
just shine. The sun is anyway shining beyond the clouds.

Nothing can stop the sun from shining. Even when an eclipse happens,
those shadows are so far away from the sun. It does not touch the sun.
Similarly, the entire seeming disturbance in love, in your life,
does not take away your nature, which is pure love, unconditional love.
The ability to receive genuine love comes with the ability to give love.
That’s why often you do not know how to respond when someone
shows a lot of love. The more you are centered and know by experience that
you are love, the more you feel at home with any amount of love expressed
in any manner. Deep inside, you know that love is not an emotion;
it is your very existence.
